Moving Day

A couple of water tubs sit on a trailer
waiting to be hauled off for the winter.
Now that fall is here and the weather is getting cooler, PrideRock staff must remove the water tubs from the tiger enclosures. (Lions don't like water so they are not given water tubs.) As you can imagine, the water tubs are heavy, even without water. The tubs are oval galvanized 169 gallon stock tanks which measure 6 feet long. If the tubs are left in the enclosures during ice or storm, the water will freeze over and could take months to thaw out. So, we remove them sometime in October, will store them on the property in a secluded space and then put them back in the tiger enclosures around May or June.

Each water tub is spray painted differently for each animal. Shana's tub is pink (below) with her name on one side and PrideRock on the other side.
Tigers losing their pools for the winter include Elijah, Kumal, Shana, Rambo, Bagherra, Tiggy and Tony, and Jamu and Kashmir.
